hannah loves to color and draw. she loves crayons, markers, paint, etc. she also has found some colored mechanical pencils that dana had somewhere. the only problem she had was that when she pressed too hard (easy to do for a three-year-old) she broke the lead.
on saturday she found her pencils and wanted to color. unfortunately, she discovered that the leads were all used up on 3 of the 5 pencils. she promptly comes to me and tells me that he pencils need new batteries! i guess for her new batteries fix everything.

saw this site today and thought you all would enjoy it.
www.dontdownloadthissong.com
i know mark and i have both taught a ss lesson on this.
i think my favorite lines say something like….”don’t take away money from artists just like me/how else can i afford another solid gold humvee/and diamond studded swimming pools/these things don’t grow on trees” or “Cause you start out stealing songs/then you’re robbing liquor stores/and selling crack/and running over schoolkids with your car.”
of course weird al is giving this song away free!

i found out yesterday that our good friend and one of my favorite professors died on saturday. Ann Miller, long-time Baylor English prof and good friend to my family and me, died after a long battle with cancer. here’s the article from the waco trib:
Friends mourn ‘the best of old Baylor’
she was a great lady who, even in the painful times, always had good things to say. she always greeted us with a hug and complimented how pretty dana is. she loved meeting hannah for the first time. my most recent favorite memory of her is finding her in HEB looking for liquid soap. she was unscrewing all the lids to find the smell she liked best. she always said goodbye saying that she loved me and all my family.
she fought hard, but i’m sure she’s happier now. we’ll miss her, her poetry and her gusto for life. she definitely left this place better than she found it.

kaitlyn will be 8 days old today at noon. now that we’ve had her home for a week, the good news is that there is nothing huge to report. kaitlyn is eating and sleeping well, so in turn we are too!
hannah has been the best and shows no signs of jealousy. she wants to help at every turn and does a great job with everything. she doesn’t really want to let kaitlyn out of her sight.
mary jane (dana’s mom) left this morning to drive home, but yesterday we picked up julie and chase (dana’s sister and our nephew) for a visit. we’ve had lots of visitors and more are welcome!
now, for two odd stories i found on the web today:
Squirrel Attacks 7 People
Man Missing After Pulled Into Ocean By Turtle

bowdenhome would like to introduce the world to:
KAITLYN GRACE BOWDEN

Date of Birth: August 2, 2006
Time of Birth: 12:09 pm
Weight: 7 lbs. 0 oz.
Length: 19.5 inches
she is a pure joy to hold and love on. her big sister hannah has enjoyed every minute with her and doesn’t want to lose sight of her. her mother was a trooper and flew through delivery with flying colors.
for those that are curious, kaitlyn means “pure” and grace is for “grace of God”. some scriptures that we chose for her are:
Philippians 2:15 “…so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
thanks to all of you for your prayer and support throughout this pregnancy. it was definitely felt and will follow kaitlyn throughout her life. God has graced us with many blessings and we feel truly blessed with the newest gift.click on the picture or her name or the “Latest Photos” section to see the beginning of many pictures to come.
