Thoughts of a Child

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

As I came to the door to pick Hannah up from her BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) class yesterday, I saw a group of smiling 3 year olds jumping up and down singing Jump up high, Jump up high, Jump up high and praise the Lord, Jump up high, Jump up high, Jump up high and praise the Lord! It brought tears to my eyes. It is an awesome thing to see Hannah so excited about praising her Lord at such an early age. Her Bible study teachers are such a wonderful example of Gods love!!

Last Wednesday after BSF, I asked Hannah to tell me about her Bible story. She said, Jesus was on a mountain. He died on the cross. I asked her why. She said, because He rescued us. Later that day, we were praying at home. I did the praying. When I was finished, she looked at me and said, Mommy, you forgot to pray to God about Jesus dying on the cross for us. WOW!

While Alan goes to BSF on Monday nights, Hannah and I sometimes watch Deal or No Deal on TV. The other day, Hannah was talking to Alan and she said, The Bible is true or NO Deal!

hannah’s cooking show

Friday, October 20th, 2006

we like the food network. especially during the summer when nothing else was on, we would either watch something on the food network or discovery channel, but i digress.

hannah has discovered that she really likes watching 30 Minute Meals with Rachel Ray. she likes it so much, that she is able to quote the whole opening segment.

just the other day she pushed her little play kitchen away from the wall it sits by, got behind it, and began acting out her own cooking show. she collected all the foods she needed and even brought in fresh “herbs” (also known as grass and leaves) from outside, and started to cook. dana captured it on our camera.

Hannah’s Cooking Show

she has also helped me make pancakes on saturday, pizza with ms. britty, cakes with mommy, and other fun stuff with grammie. she’s becoming quite proficient. one day she might have her own show!

success at last!!

i really didn’t put it together until tonight. i guess that’s because i was so used to it. i haven’t done the complete figuring, but i’ve done close to 20 big 12 pre-game events with zero wins….that is, until today.

baylor won it’s 2nd road game in big 12 history. what a win it was. i tell you, OT is some of the most gut wrenching time and 3 of them take a toll on you. it was fun to win one!

for those of you wondering, we didn’t do a pre-game at iowa state last year. so, i was not present for that win.

i will say that cu has one of the most beautiful campus settings around. taking west point last year and cu this year, i’ve seen some great campuses!

travel

Monday, September 18th, 2006

first off, i would like to give major thanks to b-hood and her boy tito. as i was traveling this weekend, they took care of my three girls in the highest of fashion. all reports i received were excellent and it sounds like they had some major fun with tea parties, pizza, and seafood!

this weekend i traveled from waco to seattle for the baylor vs. wsu football game. the game is not worth mentioning, but quest field was cool. the weather was beautiful and seattle is a place i would like to explore some more.

on the way back my itinerary had some unexpected changes. i consider myself a patient traveler. i am usually not in a hurry and accept change pretty well. when i got to the airport at 5 am (pacific), i discovered that my 6 am flight had been delayed until 7:30. nice! i discovered later that american airlines called my wife at home at 1:45 am (3 times!!!) to tell me that my flight was delayed. they also called my office once. i appreciate the effort, but that is a bit intrusive that early in the morning. once probably would have sufficed. i have now updated my numbers with AA to include my cell. seems kinda pointless for them to call my home or office since they know i’m in seattle!! i guess they were doing what they could.

luckily, my flight from dfw to waco was timed just far enough apart for me to make the run from plane (terminal a) to plane (terminal b).** unfortunately, my bag was not as fast! i made it home in the same amount of time and that was fine by me. getting my bag is an unfinished story. i called up until eleven last night for the computer to tell me they had not found it yet. (that’s some pretty impressive technology to have voice recognition walk me throught the menus and look for my record!)

all in all, it was a good trip, but i missed my weekend.

**i almost said i did a great oj simpson impression running through the airport for Hertz, but oj’s image is not what it used to be.

A Taste of His Goodness

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Yum! Yum! Since Kaitlyn arrived on August 2nd, we have had the blessing of having dinner provided for us for 4 weeks. Yes, thats right—17 families from church and BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) have blessed us with the gift of food. And we have more friends who have emailed and called saying they want to provide dinner. WOW! To all of you we say a big THANK YOU!!!

Romans 12:10 says, Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Proverbes 17:17 says, A friend loves at all times

John 15:13 says, Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

God is amazing. He has given us the gift of many wonderful friends who have shown His love to us during this very special time in our lives. We thank God for each of you!
